Panama's new government under Juan Carlos Varela has scrapped the obligation to blend 5% ethanol in gasoline. Energy Secretary Victor Urrutia has now authorised the sale of gasoline with no added ethanol justifying the move with the risk of supply shortages after distiller Campos de Pese had suspended sales of the additive.
