The federal Environmental Ministry (BMU) in its national Renewable Action Plan (nREAP) projects an increase in the renewables share in the transport sector to 13.2% cal. from 7.3% cal. in 2010 and 3.9% cal. in 2005. According to the ministry's projection, fuel alcohol usage is to reach 857,000 tonnes of oil equivalent (toe) in 2020, which would translate into 1.7 bln litres of fuel alcohol, compared with 639,000 toe this calendar year. Imports would rise to 278,000 toe from 189,000.
