SUGAR MILLS OFFER 1 BLN LITRES ETHANOL FOR BLENDING

The sugar sector has offered 1.05 bln litres of fuel alcohol to state oil marketers such as Indian Oil Corp., Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. and Hindustan Petroleum Corp. Ltd. for 2010/11 (Sep/Aug), oil industry sources said. This is more than the 860 mln litres required for blending the government-prescribed five per cent ethanol with petrol. First deliveries are expected for early October.
