Troubles within China areexpected to spell disaster for theIndian steel industry asdesperate Chinesemanufacturers would dump theirproducts more rigorouslyabroad, having alreadyregistered a growth of 232 percent in their shipments to Indianports, an ASSOCHAM studyhas cautioned."China has got 400 milliontonne of surplus capacityagainst a demand of 741million tonne which is morethan 50% of its requirement.Excessive capacity of China isfour times the total capacity ofIndia and in 2014, steel exportsfrom China were 93 milliontonne in total, increasing by50.5% year-on-year," theASSOCHAM paper said.
