Tata Steel devises novel way to produce iron ore to cut costs

Tata Steel, the world's seventh largest steel company, has invented a unique way to produce iron-ore from waste, which will lower steelmaking costs. The company has initiated talks with the central government for a pilot project in Jamshedpur. The technology, which is similar to Kobe Steel's ITmK3 used for the production of iron ore nuggets, has been tried and tested by the company at its research and development centre.
