Big mines favour Komatsu's 103-t dozer

AngloCoal's Kleinkopje opencast colliery near Witbank in Mpumalanga, Debswana Diamond Company's Orapa mine in northern Botswana and Barkly West based independent diamond miner HC van Wyk Diamonds in the Northern Cape are the latest purchasers of the new 104,3 t "Dash 5" model, which was introduced into the local market in late-2003 as successor to the 101 t D475A-3. Kleinkopje has purchased two units, the first machine was supplied in early-August and the second in early-September, to join older model D475's and 68,5 t D375's in the mine's 13-strong Komatsu-dominated dozer fleet.
