Rhovan is a vanadium extraction operation situated mid-way between Brits and Rustenburg in the Northwest Province. Having been in existence since 1989, they have steadily increased their production tonnage each year and now produce 12 percent of the world's production. Rhovan produces Vanadium Pentoxide (V2O5) and Ferrovanadium (FeV), primarily for the export market and were the first ISO14001 accredited vanadium plant in the world. They currently have reserves in excess of 50,9-million t with the potential of a further 66-million t. Their mining method is open-pit and all material below a depth of 5 m is blasted. Overburden is removed by excavators, which load material into Articulated Dump Trucks (ADTs). Rhovan have been using a fleet of Bell B40 model B, C and D Supertruck ADTs.
