The severe restrictions on supply of antimony raw material from China, in the wake of last July's Longquan mining disaster, have continued into Q2 this year. Industry sources had been hopeful that the supply situation in Guangxi province, which produces about 60-70 percent of China's antimony output, would improve following the Chinese new year. However, this has not been the case and, according to market observers, only one mine is currently operating in the province and several Chinese smelting facilities have been forced to close due to lack of feedstock.
