A LEADING MINING sector consultancy believes while many companies in the resources game are bunkering down to weather the economic storm, some operators will see the downturn as an opportunity rather than just a threat. Coffey Mining chief executive Dan O’Toole said strongly-positioned businesses should now be able to take the chance to capitalise on the new opportunities opening up in the industry. "Twelve months ago, the industry was in the grip of a severe skills shortage and we couldn't get the skilled people we needed," he noted.
