As part of the Queensland Government's mandate of doubling the mining industry's 2004/05 annual investment in exploration of 270 million dollars over the next four years, the Smart Mining - Future Prosperity program continues to gather momentum. Outlining the program to Mining 2006 delegates was Queensland Department of Mines and Energy director Dave Mason. The initiative is funding the acquisition of new geological and geophysical data in the Charters Towers, Cape York and Cooper Basin regions as well as providing funding for collaborative drilling programs and grants to assist companies to share drilling resources.
