摘要

The old adage that success will come to junior explorers with strong management teams was again thrown into the mix during the AMC conference. This time the message came from Erdene Gold Incorporated's president and chief executive Peter Akerley, who said investment was "in the jockey, not the horse". Erdene - which is listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange - has base (two) and precious metals (one) projects in Mongolia as well as interests in a number of coal and uranium plays. During his presentation, Akerley said if a junior was trying to raise investment capital, it should make sure it had clear goals and objectives which could be relayed to potential punters. "From a financing perspective, in this current environment, raising money is not a problem," he noted. "What's important to us as a company is to find people - whether its funds or individuals - who understand what our goals are and who believe in management's goals and strategies.
