UPSIDE IS A term which can sometimes be bandied about with gay abandon - particularly by explorers with a flair for spruiking. It is, however, probably the only succinct way to describe the potential of Northern Star Resources Ltd's exploration portfolio. The Western Australian-based junior's 3,400 square kilometres of real estate in the state's under-explored east Kimberley region has already caught the eye of stellar mid-tier nickel miner Jubilee Mines NL, which has been the company's largest shareholder (25.56 percent) since it listed in December 2003. The fact Jubilee is attracted to Northern Star should come as no surprise to anyone, given the miner's reputation for being a big spender in the field and having a penchant for forming alliances with aggressive explorers who are seeking new and exciting growth opportunities.
