Through the 1980s and early 1990s Aerodata Holdings Limited reigned supreme as Australia's premier airborne geophysical company. Its demise in 1999 was perceived at the time as a great loss, but with the sort of resilience usually displayed by the exploration industry itself, the principles of Aerodata have achieved a renaissance as GPX Airborne Pty Ltd. Chief executive Pat Cunneen, chairman Greg Reudavey and operations manager Ron Creagh, have brought together a whole new suite of leading edge airborne geophysical tools for exploration under cover. Undoubtedly the jewel in the crown is the HoistEM helicopter borne electromagnetic system, which was developed by the now gone Normandy Mining Ltd's exploration department and named after the ubiquitous Hills Hoist clothes line.
