摘要

Shark Bay Resources Pty Ltd, now wholly-owned by Japanese giant Mitsui Group, contributed to much of the company's salt production in Australia during the 2005 financial year. In its annual report for the 12 months ended March 2005, Mitsui reported increased annual production capacity to 1.8 million tons in Australia, having made several investments in the development of its salt fields to secure long-term supply. The company is investigating opportunities to acquire new sources. The Shark Bay Salt Joint Venture was previously 70 percent -owned by Shark Bay Resources, with Mitsui owning the remaining 30 percent but in late 2004, Clough Limited's 50 percent interest and AMP Life Limited's 50 percent interest in Shark Bay Resources was bought by Mitsui.
