Dear Editor,Microsurgery has developed valuable techniques and instruments for surgeons in many specialties. There are two fashions of grip of an instrument, namely, power grip and precision grip.1 Microsurgical instruments, for very small objects under a microscope, have been held with the thumb, index, and middle fingers for control of fine and precise manipulations. Also, there are many Meissner's corpuscles in the three fingertips, which are the quickly adapting fiber and receptor system for tactile gnosis. The opposite end of the instrument handle projects over and rests against the web space between the thumb and index finger. The ulnar border of the hand or forearm rests comfortably on the table. This is the "precision grip" (not power grip), which is similar to the writing grasp when one holds a pen or pencil.
