14~(th) International Symposium of ICSOBA on the Occasion of Festive 40~(th) Anniversary of ICSOBA, Croatian Academy of the Arts and Sciences, Zagreb, October 10 - 11, 2003

Forty years has passed since a group of scientists, sponsored by former Jugoslav Academy of the Arts and Sciences, in 1963 established a society in Zagreb whose basic goal and field of work was the exchange of experience and technical research work in the area related to scientific and technological researching of bauxite, aluminium oxide and production of aluminium in our country and in the world. This initial group of scientists consisted of academician Miroslav Karsulin (in that time General Secretary of Academy), prof DSc Olga Sarc-Lahodny, prof. Rikard Marusic, and prof DSc Vladimir Logomerac. Many scientists and specialists in the field of bauxite, aluminium oxide, and production of aluminium, and most of them, at the very beginning, came from Hungary, Greece, (former) U.S.S.R. and other countries, attached the 1~(th) international assembly in 1963 forming International Committee for the Study of Bauxite, Alumina and Aluminium (ICSOBA) with headquarters in Zagreb.
