Selecting the optimum electrode diameter for AC EAFs

From the above data it can be concluded that a prediction of electrode consumption for different electrode diameters under various furnace operating conditions can be performed with reasonable accuracy. Recommendations can be given as to whether a different electrode diameter could be useful. Furthermore, target values can be calculated indicating the optimum furnace operating conditions for the respective electrode diameter.
