A central construct of health professional education is to train learners to utilise critical thinking to efficiently and effectively assess and come to a diagnostic conclusion on a patient's condition. The importance of appropriately testing a student's critical thinking abilities, not only to the learner, but to society as a whole, cannot be overstated.
