The European silicon metal market, which has renewed gains after a flat start to the year, is expected to dimbfurther in the nearterm on firm demand, notably in the aluminium alloys sector. European prices are up about ?50-75/tonnethis month, with standard secondary aluminium-grade 5-5-3 metal at ?2,225-2,275/tonne FCA (free on truck).
