The ASGS Celebrates the 100th Anniversary of Pyrex~R at the Corning Museum of Glass

Article details some of the history of Pyrex~R glass and the celebration of its 100th Anniversary at the opening of GlassFest 2015 in the Corning Museum of Glass, Corning, NY. On May 21, the town of Corning, NY hosted its 6th annual GlassFest in their downtown district along with the Corning Museum of Glass. This year's event coincided with the 100th Anniversary of Pyrex~R glass. To underscore this momentous occasion, Eric Goldschmidt, Properties of Glass Programs Supervisor at The Corning Museum of Glass, asked representatives of the American Scientific Glassblowers Society (Kiva Ford from the University of Notre Dame, Sally Prasch from Syracuse University, Mike Souza from Princeton University and Phil Surdam from Chemglass Life Sciences) to open the event with a two-hour scientific glassblowing demonstration in the Museum's newly renovated studio in their Glass Innovation Center.
