Cranberry harvest celebration draws thousands to Ontario farm

The crop is harvested unlike any other agriculture product Following in their parents' footsteps, Blake and Murray Johnston continue a tradition, while making inroads in an industry that celebrates itself with an annual festival. Johnston's CranberryMarsh is one of only two in Ontario, and for the past 12 years the Bala Cranberry Festival has centred around that harvest. Started by brothers Orville and Melville Johnston in 1952, the cranberry marsh is now operated by Orville's sons, Blake and Murray while various other family members, including mom June and wives Kate and Wendy get involved during the harvest season.
