According to Modine President and CEO Thomas Burke, for first fiscal quarter 2011 sales were $418 million (up 21%); gross profit increased 18% to $69.4 million; operating income was $20.0 million or a $3.2 million or 19% improvement; and net earnings were $13.1 million, resulting in diluted earnings per share of $0.28 versus $0.11. "Our quarterly results included improved sales across all of our business segments, resulting in higher operating income and earnings per share compared to the same quarter one year ago. We remain on the path to achieve our near-term objective of 11 to 12% return on average capital employed by the end of fiscal 2013.
