"The organic sector in Italy has seen less growth than it has in other countries. Large-scale distribution seems to be stuck in the 90s, with organic products all bunched up in a corner at the POS and virtually invisible. However, in the specialized shops there has been a certain amount of growth, although it is not consistent and does not amount to a two-figure number as in Germany or even the US. In the latter market, the organic sector grows by 20-25% each year", explains Franco De Panfilis, the owner of the OrganicSur Italia company from Rastignano in the Italian province of Bologna.
