Consumer concerns for food safely, environmental contamination issues, the large reduction of the available pesticides, the increasing resistance for several pesticides and the importance of production worker safely have all stimulated the implementation of integrated pest management control in the last decen-nium in strawberry production in most European countries. The bio-control strategies have been steadily refined over the years as new products have become available and ways of utilising natural enemies are modified. And it is not just restricted to greenhouse production in the Netherlands and Belgium. IPM has gained also a lot of importance in traditional outdoor production in Spain, Italy, UK and Scandinavia.
