TRANSCANADA ALASKA PROJECT IDLES AS DEVELOPERS SCRUTINIZE IMPROVED PROSPECT FOR LNG EXPORTS FROM ALASKA

On December 19 TransCanada Alaska Co., LLC (TC Alaska) (PF09-11) submitted a letter to advise FERC that TC Alaska intends to defer filing certain anticipated resource studies (Resource Report Nos. through 11) for the Alaska Pipeline Project (APP) that is being jointly advanced on its behalf by affiliates of TransCanada Corp. and Exxon Mobil Corp. The letter stated the plans are being revisited in light of growing interest in liquefied natural gas (LNG). The parties cite -the changes in North American natural gas markets and emerging LNG opportunities overseas."
