This September, for the disceming showgoer and exhibitor, all roads will lead to Exeter - or to be more precise Devon and Exeter racecourse - for the South West Woodland Show. Once again the event promises more than ever before. Here's sneak previewof what to expect. For the first time, the show (on September 12) - which is organised by the South West Branch of the Forestry and Timber Association (FTA) - with feature elements of the UK Loggers Competition. There will be four different section of the logging contest - sponsored by Tavistock Chainsaws and Stratton & Holbrow - as two competitors at a time battle it out. The first involves changing the chain on the saw which is expected to be done in less than 25 seconds. Second and third involve cutting discs from a long and the fourth involves snedding. Leslie Woodhead, who is organising the contest, said: 'The competitors will not only be working against the clock, but also with precision and not cutting corners and breaching safety regulations.I'm really excited to bring this demonstration to the South West and believe spectators will enjoy watching the cutters in action. We're looking for new competitors and are hoping we find some at the show'. Along with the logging action there will be rangeof products, serices, machinery and equipment on show, a selection of wich is reviewed below.
