This special section includes a review of the changes and developments in the agrochemical supply industry, including withdrawals as a result of EU legislation (Palmer), a review of herbicides and insecticides for use in forestry, amenity, total and aquatic sectors in the UK (Palmer), an outline of the development of a web-based expert system to assist in herbicide selection (Willoughby and Thomson), and brief discussions on reducing pesticide use (Willoughby), sprayers and control of Hylobius abietis following the ban on use of permethrin (Mabbett). Some support groups which give information on the regulation and use of pesticides are listed.
