Florverde~(C) celebratesten years of change

For a sector that is only 35 years old, the approaching milestone of US 1 billion dollar in flower exports is reason enough for celebration. The icing on the cake in 2006 has been the 10th anniversary of Florverde~(C), the program that changed the Colombian flower sector in several ways, Asocolflores invited Flower Tech for the occasion. Celebrate the Colombians should, especially in a country that has had its share of social problems. Actually, this is the most striking surprise to a first-time visitor to Bogota and the flower farms around it - the disparity between what one "expects" to see in Colombia and the normality of everyday life. In the flower sector, the progress in working conditions and environmental care that Floverde~(C) helped to establish are nothing short of surprising.
