Correlation Between Sizing Formulation and Compressive Behavior of Concentrated Glass Bundle Suspensions

The correlation between sizing formulation,bundle mechanical characteristics and bundle-matrix static and dynamic interactions was investigated.Two glass fibre sizing formulations were considered,one containing PVAc and the other polyester/PVAc,as used conventionally in SMC.Axial compression tests were conducted on dry two-dimensional random suspensions.The forced packing was governed by the bending of fibre bundle segments between bundle-bundle contact points.
