THE Senate passed a $41 billion retroactive package of tax extenders that included some provisions sought by farm groups, such as a barge fuel tax increase and extension of bonus depreciation, Section 179 expensing and the bio-diesel credit.The Tax Increase Prevention Act will extend, for one year, 55 different tax credits and deductions that expired either at the end of 2013 or during 2014.The bill cleared the House Dec. 3 on a strong bipartisan vote of 378-46 and passed in the Senate last Tuesday night on a 76-16 vote.
