At the heart of Clinton Farms, at Colaton Raleigh on Devon's English Riviera, are the two dairy herds. Together they supply processor Dairy Crest with about 4m litres of milk a year, and are just two months away from reaching full organic status. So farms manager George Perrott is reeling from the processor's decision to effectively slash its organic milk price by almost 4p/litre, as it struggles to balance its organic supply with falling demand as consumers tighten their belts.
