Not a laughing matter, apparently. Every week a story appears in the press highlighting the overpayment of doctors. Some of these doctors are general medical practitioners, most are consultants in the hospitals. 'A doctor has doubled his salary with overtime'. 'Senior doctors get pensions the size of a footballer's bar bill'. It is almost as though someone in government has a master plan to remove doctors from their position of esteem with the public, and portray them as money grabbing, selfish, and only out for themselves (not their patients).
