Devolution and dentistry in Northem Ireland

Devolution came to Northern Ireland in 1998, when political power was transferred from Westminster to the Northern Ireland Assembly. The Northern Ireland Assembly, which resides at Stormont, consists of 108 elected members - 6 from each of the 18 Westminster constituencies. Its role is primarily to scrutinise and make decisions on the issues dealt with by the 11 Northern Ireland government departments and to consider and make legislation.
