The curiously named and structured entity at the heart of the melamine contamination disaster of 2007, Menu Foods Income Fund, recently announced its first quarter 2009 results which show the company increasing earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization by 42.6 per cent compared to the same quarter in 2008. This improvement in performance was largely attributable, according to the company, to the impact of two price increases implemented during 2008 and a third price increase initiated during 2008 and implemented during the first quarter of 2009, together with a 13.6 per cent increase in sales compared to the first quarter of 2008.
