Industry generous in support of special needs hort program

One of the newest greenhouse structures in the Niagara region is well off the beaten track. Actually, it's next to the football field. Opening ceremonies were held last fall for the ultra-modern St. Catharines Collegiate special needs department greenhouse. Years of fundraising were capped with the construction of the spacious, and well-equipped, 24' x 48' structure. Heading the program is Brigitte Chess, an educational assistant and greenhouse instructor. She has been involved with a greenhouse program for special needs students for 26 years. She worked at the Churchill Learning Centre for much of that time, before relocating in 2001 to St. Catharines Collegiate (SCC) with the closure of Churchill.
