摘要

Although many segments of agriculture are struggling with depressed commodity prices and supply/demand issues, companies exhibiting at the 35th annual World Ag Expo, formerly the California Farm Equipment Show and International Exposition are optimistic about the economic future of agriculture and are looking for good things to happen in 2002. The world's largest farm machinery show is held every February in Tulare, and this year the three-day run begins Feb. 12. Hours for the show are 9 a.m. to 5p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday, Feb. 12 and 13 and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 14. Admission is 7 dollar per person. The 2002 farm show will see heightened security in the aftermath of the 9/11 terrorist attacks and the ongoing vigilance against foot-and-mouth disease, said World Ag Expo chairman Don Brown. International attendees will not be able to tour local farms and dairies as they have in the past because of concerns about bringing foot-and-mouth into the region, Brown said. A special task force formed in the wake of the global outbreak in March, recommended that the farm tours be canceled, at least for 2002.
