These were my - and I am sure others' - famous last words when talking to their parents when they were 13 or thereabouts. For those who have the bug and desire to see places, the gold business is for you, and if you have never had the pleasure of travelling in the FSU (Former Soviet Union) on a Yak40 then hold on. On one of my recent sojourns to the east to review some gold-mining operations and exploration projects I was introduced to the joys of the Yak. The Yak40 is a plane that was designed, I believe, to deploy paratroopers into "hostile" situations at a moments notice. One enters not through a side door near the pointy end of the plane but through a more subdued and narrow entrance through the tail, just beneath one of three rather large jet engines.
