EAST ASIA - LNG CPC signs 20-year LNG contract with Australia's Woodside

Australia’s Woodside Energy has signed a preliminary 20-year LNG supply agreement with Taiwan’s state oil and gas company, CPC. Under the terms of the deal, Woodside will supply 2-3 mtpa of gas from the planned Browse LNG project to CPC over a 15-20 year period. CPC refused to disclose the value of the deal, but local press reports suggested that it was worth US$49.6 billion. CPC chairman Wenent Pan said at the signing ceremony that Taiwanese LNG demand, which reached 8.3 mt in 2007, was expected to reach 9.5 mt in 2008 and 10.5 mt in 2010.
