Struggling BC site hopes to lure in LNG developer

The proliferation of LNG export proposals on Canada’s western coast continued this week with the news that the city of Prince Rupert had signed an exclusivity agreement with Watson Island LNG Corporation (WILNGC) to turn a former pulp mill site into a small LNG export facility. Details of the LNG proposal are scant at present, but the city said that WILNGC is now focused on carrying out due diligence on the project. “We are looking forward to establishing good working relationships with the community, First Nations and regulators to bring the company’s development plans to fruition,” said Ed Neibauer, director of WILNG.
