BG Group and Petrobras awarded oil and gas exploration licences in Bolivia

BG Group and Petrobras have been awarded licences to explore for oil and gas in Bolivia. The news came a few days after President Evo Morales ordered the nationalisation of the Bolivian operations of Spain’s Iberdrola. The awards were announced on December 30, 2012 by state-owned news agency Agencia Boliviana de Informacion. Petrobras won the Cedro concession in Santa Cruz state which covers 100,000 hectares, while BG Group picked up the Huacareta concession between the states of Chuquisaca and Tarija which covers 453,000 hectares.
