The gas industry is struggling to bridge the gender pay gap, and come 2018 all companies with over 250 employees will be required by law to publish their gender pay information. Those who fail to display a fair and just approach to gender pay are likeLy to suffer significant downswings in their corporate reputations as the media hangs them out to dry, with possible commercial repercussions. Our database is comprised of pay data from over half a million employees, and it includes data for over 13,000 UK employees in the oiL and gas industry (O&G). Analysis indicates that the sector still has some way to go to reach parity in gender pay. While the opportunity is there to start remedying this ahead of 2018, doing so will require significant steps to be taken by a number of industry stakeholders.
