As the HR Manager of a mid-sized consulting and contracting firm, which has a long history of training and development, I was surprised to be viewed as perpetuating the skills crisis in our industry. Unfortunately the sentiments echoed in the Geobulletin editorial I was reading at the time are not necessary untrue in all cases. There are a number of companies that don't provide their employees with a diversified and well planned career path supported by the necessary training interventions.
