SOUTH AFRiCAN YOUTH CHAMBER OF MiNiNG -- official launch hosted by the CGS

The official launch of the Youth Chamber of Mining, which was sponsored and hosted by the CGS, took place on 18 March 2003. Presentations by the CGS, the Mining Qualifications Authority, Miningtek-CSIR, Simpross and African Rainbow Minerals focused on the challenges facing the youth in the South African mining industry. Delegates deemed some of the most pressing challenges to be the need to train scientists and entrepreneurs to support the mining industry, HIV/AIDS, and the need to transform the industry to create opportunities for especially the youth.
