Activities of the Western Cape Branch in 2002

The Branch's AGM was held on 7 March 2002, at which the following people were elected to serve on the branch committee: Prof Hartwig E Frimmel (chairman), Renata Viola (secretary), Bill McAloon (treasurer), Dr Bob Thomas (field trips), Dr Nick Steven (field trips), Coenie de Beer (Conservation Committee), Prof Alex Kisters, George van Heerden, L Smith Jordaan (student representative: Univ. Stellenbosch), and Russel Bailie (student representative: Univ. Cape Town). The AGM was followed by a talk on "Witwatersrand Gold: Recent developments concerning its geological history and genesis," presented by the re-elected chairman.
