There are multiple different contact points between the GI endoscopist and the GI surgeon. I prefer to use the term "integration". At UCI we have just celebrated the 3rd anniversary of our Comprehensive Digestive Disease Center, which is an integrated center comprised of 20 Digestive Disease physicians (10 from Department of Medicine and 10 from Department of Surgery) and approximately 100 staff. In this lecture, I will share some of our concepts and infrastructure as well as prospects for the future.
