L/LDPE producers had no trouble in pushing through hikes of ?100/ tonne last month.Significantly,prices have now broken through the ?l,000/tonne barrier.Material remains in extremely short supply and producers had to limit the intake of new orders in September.Demand is reported to have been good last month with some element of speculative buying in evidence.However,producers simply do not have the material to meet the demand.A series of plant outages during the summer combined with good demand meant that producers were unable to rebuild stocks,as they would have liked.
