Prices continue downward drift as costs tumble

In September, European standard thermoplastic prices continued to drift downward following an across-the-board reduction in feedstock costs. The ethylene (-?55), propylene (-?50) and styrene monomer (-?50) contract prices closely followed crude oil and naphtha costs down in September. Brent crude oil prices have now dropped by 14% from their 12-month peak level of $115 per barrel in mid-June to just less than $99 per barrel.
