Casting the die for plastic

A Roders, based in Soltau, Germany, has both metal diecasting and thermoplastic injection moulding business units, so is "well placed to compare the two processes. Roders received a Tecpart technical plastics association award at K2010 for a Wabco engine compartment component. The company replaced the original cast aluminium part with EMS Grivo-ry XE3735, a blend of hybrid semi-crystalline PA, with 30% glass fibre reinforcement, and partially aromatic co-PA [European Plastics News, February 2011).
