Austria's Kunststoff-Cluster says eight companies and organisations are taking part in the Knit-tFRP co-operation and innovation (COIN) research project, aimed at developing novel knitting processes for fibre-reinforced plastic composite preforms. The technology, which uses multilayer warp knitted fabrics, offers increased automation, material optimisation and reduced waste through close-contour production. It also saves energy, according to the Kunststoff-Cluster.
