The applicant complained that the ambiguous legislation on home birth dissuaded health professionals from assisting her when giving birth at home, which amounted to a discriminatory interference with her right to respect for her private life. She relied on Article 8 (right to respect for private life) read in conjunction with Article 14 of the Convention (prohibition of discrimination). The Court considers that this complaint falls to be examined under Article 8 alone.
